Some important tips on winning at Blackjack
Always hit when you have been dealt a card that is 8 or less. This is because, you have no chance of busting, and you can get closer to 21 with a couple more cards.
Always stand on hard hands of 17 or more, despite what the dealer shows. A hard hand is described as a hand with no aces or an ace that is worth only one point (e.g., 6, king, and ace). If you hit, odds will be against you and are likely to bust.
Always ask for a hit if you have 16 or less and the dealer’s card is 7, 8, 9, 10, or ace. These are the best cards one can typically get and chances of the dealer beating you are high in such a scenario. Although you may busting, it is worth the risk of getting closer to 21.
Always stand on hard hands of 12 or more if the dealer’s first card is between 2 and 6 including both. These are the worst cards and it is likely that the dealer will bust.
Always stand on soft 19's and 20's. A soft hand is described as one that has an ace which can be valued as either one or eleven. Do not try to risk losing this hand by trying to get a "better" hand.
You can split pairs when you are dealt two of the same cards, for example two 9's or two 7's. You can place money on each pair and treat them as separate hands. Always split aces and 8's never pairs of 4, 5 or 10.
